Custom Truck Graphics and Wraps in Saskatoon

A quality tinted window does far more than improve the way your vehicle looks. It reduces interior heat on hot Saskatchewan summer days, blocks UV rays that damage your skin and fade your interior, improves privacy, and adds a layer of security by making it harder for opportunistic thieves to see what’s inside your vehicle. At Saskatoon Car Wraps, we install professional-grade automotive window tint on cars, trucks, SUVs, and commercial vehicles and we do it to a standard that looks great and lasts.

Why Car Tint Is Worth It

Saskatchewan summers can be genuinely brutal inside an untinted vehicle. The sun sits high and intense, and on a hot day the interior of a parked car can reach temperatures that are uncomfortable at best and damaging to your dash, seats, and trim at worst. A quality car window tint film can reject a significant percentage of solar heat, making your vehicle noticeably more comfortable without your air conditioning working as hard.

Beyond heat rejection, tint films block up to 99% of ultraviolet radiation which is the same UV rays responsible for skin damage and the fading and cracking of leather, vinyl, and plastic interior surfaces. Protecting your interior from UV degradation is one of the most overlooked benefits of car tinting, and it has a real impact on maintaining your vehicle’s interior condition and resale value over time.

Types of Car Window Tint Film

The most affordable option, dyed window film uses a layer of dye to absorb and reduce light transmission through glass. It provides reasonable heat reduction and good privacy at an accessible price point. It is a solid choice for customers focused primarily on privacy and appearance.

  • Carbon Window Tint: Carbon tint films use carbon particles rather than dye to block light and heat. They are more effective at heat rejection than standard dyed films, they don’t fade over time the way dye-based films can, and they have a rich, dark appearance that many drivers prefer. Carbon tint is a popular mid-range option that offers meaningful performance improvements over standard film.
  • Ceramic Window Tinting Ceramic tint is the premium option and the one we most commonly recommend for customers who want the best results. Ceramic films use nano-ceramic particles to block heat and UV without significantly reducing visibility. They offer superior heat rejection compared to both dyed and carbon films, they are completely signal-neutral (meaning they don’t interfere with GPS, mobile phone reception, or any electronic systems), and they maintain their clarity and performance for many years without fading.

Tint Darkness and Saskatchewan Legal Requirements

Window tint darkness is measured by Visible Light Transmission (VLT) – the percentage of light that passes through the film. A higher VLT percentage means a lighter tint; a lower percentage means a darker tint.

In Saskatchewan, the law requires that the front side windows must allow at least 35% VLT, meaning no darker than a 35% tint on the driver and passenger windows. The rear side windows and rear window can be tinted darker. Windshield tinting is restricted to a narrow strip at the top.

We are familiar with Saskatchewan’s tinting regulations and ensure that all of our installations are compliant.

Windshield Tinting

Many customers ask about windshield tinting. In Saskatchewan, a full windshield tint is not permitted, but a tinted sun strip along the top of the windshield typically four to six inches in depth is a popular and legal option that reduces glare from the sun at low angles.

Commercial Vehicle Window Tinting

We also tint commercial vehicles including vans, trucks, and buses. For fleet operators, consistent tinted windows across all vehicles contributes to a professional, uniform appearance and the practical benefits of heat reduction and UV protection apply just as much to commercial vehicles as to personal ones. Many customers get car decals and tinting at the same time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Window Tinting

How long does the window tint last?

A professional window tint installation using quality film will typically last many years without bubbling, peeling, or fading. The lifespan depends on the quality of the film and the quality of the installation, both of which we take seriously. Lower quality films installed without proper preparation tend to fail much sooner, which is why it pays to have the job done right the first time.

Can I roll my windows down right after tinting?

We recommend waiting at least 48 hours after installation before rolling your windows down. The adhesive needs time to cure fully, and rolling the windows down too soon can cause the film to shift or peel at the edges.

Will tint affect my defrost lines?

Not when installed by a professional, window tint does not damage or interfere with your rear window defrost elements.

Can car tinting be removed?

Yes, window tint can be removed like car decals. Older or lower-quality tint can be more challenging to remove than newer premium films, but it is always possible with the right technique and tools.

Does window tint affect my visibility at night?

Any tint film will slightly reduce visibility in low-light conditions. This is one reason we discuss tint darkness levels carefully with each customer before installation, finding the right balance between the look and privacy you want and the nighttime visibility you need.
