THE PROS TO SEE IN SASKATOON FOR STONE GUARDING YOUR CAR

PERSONAL AND COMMERCIAL/FLEET GRAPHICS PROJECTS WELCOME!

Your Source for Car Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Your vehicle’s paintwork is one of the first things people notice and one of the first things Saskatchewan roads try to damage. Stone chips, road debris, bug splatter, and minor abrasions are an unavoidable part of driving, but with a professionally installed vehicle paint protection film, you can shield your vehicle’s finish from the most common forms of everyday damage and keep it looking newer for longer.

At Saskatoon Car Wraps, we install high-quality auto paint protection film, also commonly known as PPF or clear bra on all types of vehicles. Whether you want to protect a specific high exposure zone or the entire vehicle, we have the experience and the materials to do the job properly.

What Is a Paint Protection Film?

Paint protection film is a thick, optically clear polyurethane film that bonds to your vehicle’s painted surfaces and acts as a physical barrier against damage. It is substantially thicker than standard vinyl wrap film, which gives it the ability to absorb the impact of small stones and road debris that would otherwise leave chips and scratches in the paint beneath. Modern PPF films have several impressive properties that make them genuinely effective.

  • Self-healing: Many premium PPF films have a self-healing topcoat that allows minor surface scratches to disappear on their own with exposure to heat from the sun or warm water. This means the film continues to look clear and clean even after years of use.
  • Optically clear: Quality PPF is virtually invisible when properly installed. It does not alter the appearance of the vehicle’s colour or finish in any meaningful way.
  • UV resistant: PPF blocks UV rays that can cause paint fading and yellowing over time, helping your paint maintain its colour for longer.
  • Hydrophobic surface:  The topcoat of most premium PPF films repels water and contaminants, making the vehicle easier to clean.

Clear Bra - Front End Protection

The most common PPF installation is what’s known as a clear bra which is  coverage of the vehicle’s front facing surfaces that take the most punishment from road debris. This typically includes the front bumper, hood, front fenders, mirrors, and headlights.

A front end clear bra is the single most effective thing you can do to prevent stone chip damage on a new or well-maintained vehicle. These are the areas that take the most direct impact from road debris, and protecting them with PPF from the start saves you from costly paintwork repairs down the road.

Full Vehicle PPF Wrap

For customers at our wrap shop who want comprehensive protection, full vehicle PPF coverage is the ultimate solution. Full coverage wraps every painted panel on the vehicle in protective film, leaving no surface exposed to potential damage.

It is a more significant investment than front-end coverage alone, but for the right vehicle and the right owner, it provides truly exceptional peace of mind and paint preservation.

Partial PPF Coverage

Between a front-end clear bra and full vehicle coverage, there are many partial PPF options that make sense depending on your vehicle, your budget, and your driving habits. Common partial coverage packages include:

  • Full front end plus rocker panels
  • Full front end plus mirrors and door edge guards
  • Rear bumper protection
  • Door cup and handle area protection
  • Headlight and taillight protection film

We work with each customer individually to figure out the right coverage for their specific needs and budget. There is no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to PPF.

PPF vs. Vinyl Wrap: What's the Difference?

This is one of the most common questions we get. The short version is that PPF and vinyl wrap serve different primary purposes. PPF is a clear protective film designed primarily to shield paint from physical damage. It doesn’t change the vehicle’s colour or appearance. Vinyl wrap is a coloured or patterned film designed primarily for visual customisation or branding  though it does offer a degree of paint protection as a secondary benefit.

Some customers choose to combine both: PPF on high-impact areas for maximum protection and vinyl wrap on other surfaces for colour change or aesthetics. We do a lot of combination projects and are happy to help you think through the right approach for your vehicle.
